Under the Local Government Act 462 which required from Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA’s) to provide court structures in their various MMDA’s, the Akatsi South District Assembly is ready to commission their new court structure for use.

It can be recalled in July 2018 that, the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, threatened to close down all courts which were not “purposely designed for staff of the Judiciary by the end of this year”, adding: “There will be so many closures of courts by the end of this year.”

In view of this, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Akatsi South district, Loe-Nelson Adzidoga has said, works has completed on the Akatsi court complex to accommodate judicial staff to enhance smooth delivery of justice in the District.

“There was this directive from the chief Justice to all Assemblies to put the court premises in a very good shape. Very unfortunately that of Akatsi was nothing to write home about. They started this new facility in 2011 so we focus our attention on that to complete it so that they can move to this place. Very soon the Court Clerk, judge, the Magistrate will move in here” he explained.

He stated that before they commissioned the New Court, his outfit has already walled the residence of the magistrate to give him protection.
