Some traders in the Akatsi Market have expressed gratitude to the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly for the establishment of health center in the Akatsi market.

The women who spoke to Voltaonlinegh.com noted that, this facility will cater for their health needs in the market adding that, the distance from the market to the District hospital is far to attend to their emergency health needs when the need arise.

According to Madam Happy Amezah, a resident and trader in Akatsi, the facility which resumed operation few weeks ago in the market has given them some security in a sense that, the ordeal they went through in the past when there is any emergency health situation in the market can now be addressed as there is a health facility right under their nose.

“It will helps us a lot. When you come to the market and have any emergency issue, you can quickly be attended to here. We were even told that our blood and sugar level can be tested here so we can come to the market and have these tests done. We are very happy” she said.

However, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, Leo-Nelson Adzidogah said the Health Directorate has upgraded the facility to attain a health center status.

“When I assumed office in July 2017, I realize that the Akatsi central market has no health facility because women go there and they have some health problem and could not be immediately rushed to any health facility so, I quickly mobilized resources to build the health facility there to cater for emergency health needs. This facility is commissioned four weeks ago and it’s currently in use”.

He also hinted that, as part of his plan to transform the Akatsi South Municipality, works are far advanced and with ready investors to transform and modernize the Akatsi central market.

He reveal that, during  his tenure, the Akatsi South has been given Municipal status.
