The Tiger Eye P.I led be Anas Aremeyaw Anas has described practicing Journalism under threat as terrible and even dangerous when nothing is done and the perpetrators get to carry out their threats and call on Government and other stakeholders to condemn these threats and careless utterances.
His call in in solidarity with media colleagues in demanding protection and justice for Manasseh Azure Awuni, Edward Adeti, Afia Pokuaah, Captain Smart, Abdul Hayi Moomen, David Tamekloe and others who have been threatened with death and violence after the just ended Ghanaian 2020 general elections by some unknown persons.
The statement released by the Tiger Eye P.I leader and dated January 1, further described the threats and utterances as “acts smack of barbarism, and backwardness” adding that they are disturbing and have to be condemned.
He said, ” anonymous and open threat when not dealt with breed impunity in the society”
The statement also noted that, Ahmed Hussein Suale was openly threatened by a law maker and nothing happened and the next was his murder.
The statement further appealed to the National Media Commission (NMC) and The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) to do more, particularly in engaging political parties and Journalists who pursue public interest journalism.
