Senior Emergency Medical Technician of the Anloga Ambulance Service, Kumordzi Fraizer, has lamented on how tedious their work has been in 2020 and call on benevolent citizens to come to their aid going forward into 2021.
According to him, despite the challenges, the Ambulance Service has promptly responded to call within the 60 seconds responding time to all calls.
He said, from March to November 2020, their outfit was able to respond to a total of 67 casualties which were attended to and out of which 34 were females and 33, males with no incidence of death recorded.
He noted that one pregnant woman was able to deliver successfully in their vehicle, Ambulance, with no aftermath complications.
He said their Ambulance vehicles are very well equipped with the necessary equipment as well as personnel to attain to the patient and victims before he/she reaches the health facility for treatment hence making it very safe for victims.
“All equipment except surgical equipment is in the Ambulance including convenient bed, oxygen and among others to protect victims”
He advised residents to rely on the National ambulance service than calling for the services of Taxi drivers or other vehicle, both private or commercial, to convey persons who are to be transported to the health facilities for treatment.
He further admonished citizens to choose National Ambulance over public vehicle. “When you take your pregnant wife in your private vehicle to the facility, you will not be able to cater for her if she develops any complications on the way which you may even end up losing her. Sometimes too, other complications can be developed later after delivery if she is not handled well to the hospital” he explained.
Explaining the activities of the ambulance Service in the Anloga District, he said, their outfit also visit other institutions such as school, hotels and other public gatherings to offer education and also sensitize them on first aid assistance and other safety livings.
He observed that, their collaboration with other state institutions such as the MTTD of the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and National Disaster Management to respond appropriately to issues of road Accidents, Fire and other national disasters adding that, their collaboration in 2020 has been very fantastic.
