The Ho Technical
University has held its 27th matriculation ceremony to usher in the
new batch of students admitted into the University this year.
The university according
to records admitted 1,503 applicants out of 1,822 who applied to study at the
institution for the 2019/2020 academic year.
The Vice-Chancellor of
the University Prof. Ben Honyenuga revealed that some applicants have not been
given admission due to their inability to meet the University’s requirements.
He explained that
majority of the matriculants are undergraduates who are pursuing programs
leading to either Higher National Diploma and Degree in their preferred courses
while others are postgraduate students.
Mr. Honyenuga further advised the students to be of good behavior and
protect the reputable image the university has acquired over the years.
He charged
them to live according to the core values of the school which, he said,
includes commitment to excellence and living a life of integrity and
accountability as prospective leaders of the country.
He added that the school, for its part, is committed to equipping the
matriculants with the needed skills that will make them productive on the job
market.
Prof. Honyenuga urged them to avoid examination malpractices to ensure
efficient studies.
“the university will not tolerate and shield any form of sexual
harassment so desist from such menace” he cautioned.
The Registrar of the university Dr. Christopher Amehoe said the school
has altered the academic calendar due to the three weeks strike actions of
Technical Universities Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG).
He therefore urged the matriculants to take studies serious toward the
incoming semester exams.
